Word Press Weekly Photo Challenge: Home
This last weekend I was out bicycling on my Specialized Roubaix road bike thinking about this week’s Word Press Photo Challenge: “Home.”
With every photo challenge I really like to pursue and photograph something different, unusual, or unexpected. To my surprise and delight, I came across a series of unique hand built bird homes on the side of the road.
Today, I returned and took these series of images. All shot with a Nikon D300 using a Tamron 90mm macro lens at f/4 to make sure the background was blurry. Post processing was done use Nikon Capture, since I always shoot in RAW, and finishing up with Nik Software Color Efex for the various effects.

As always – Thank you for stopping by and viewing my images. Hoping you were a little surprised and the images brought a smile to your face. Comments are *always* welcomed!

lovely picts.. detail and sharp..
nice shot..
Good gosh. Someone really has a passion for building little homes for feathery friends. Fantastic shots.
My father likes bird houses. I think that it has something to do with his father on the cape always having bird feeders.
Great collection of homes. With the prices these days, this is probably what we’ll have to settle for as well.
A nice collection of homes, Rick.
Rick, would you kindly tell me … on the first photo where did you focus?
Thanks, ~ Misky
Using my Tamron 90mm macro lens doesn’t leave much leeway for sharp, complete focusing. Here, I was more concerned with making sure the background was blurred which was a tradeoff for a sharper birdhouse image. The focus was the top-flite golf ball on the far left to accompany my title for the image. If I had my 2oomm zoom lens with me, I would have shot a few images with it at a low F/stop to possibly gain a sharp image.
Behind in my comments. Sorry! Unexpected project popped up.
Thank you all for taking the time out to stop what you were doing to view and leave a comment. I also look forward to you feedback!
