Spilled Paint Mural – Lensbaby Project Image

This is an image from my “Lensbaby Project.” In case you missed my previous discussion about the Lensbaby: Lensbaby Project.

I took this name because for a number of years I’ve played with the idea of purchasing one of these lenses. Finally, in June 2012, I made the jump and obtained the Composer Pro Double Glass with the macro kit. I was really excited to take on a new lens to expand how and what I normally shoot. Little did I know the step learning curve! Slowly, I’m getting the hang of using this lens.

How I Shot the Image

I was driving around town and spotted this “spilled paint” mural on the side of an old and closed paint store. Image shot use a shutter speed of 1/3200 and using the Lensbaby f/4 drop in disc. I made sure to having the spilled paint drop into the bottom right-hand corner. Same idea with the ladder except into the bottom left-hand corner. Sweet spot was centered just were the paint is coming out of the can and downward into the various colors.

Post processing included (Nik Software)

  • Detail Extractor – Control point only on the center sweet spot.
  • Brillance/Warmth – Control points only on each spilled paint color.
  • Tonal Contrast
  • Image Boarder #9

As always, thank you for taking the time to stop in. Please feel free to leave a comment.
